Reports To: Service Advisers/Manager
Summary:
The Master Technician delivers expert diagnosis, maintenance, and repair across all vehicle systems and holds ASE Master Certification. Master Technicians help onboard and train new technicians and set the standard for industry best practices at Cary Car Care.
Responsibilities:
• Greet clients and review work order requests, vehicle notes, and history before servicing.
• Perform thorough test drives and preventive maintenance inspections, noting safety, service, and maintenance needs.
• Perform NC State Safety, Emissions, and Window Tint inspections (certification required).
• Diagnose, service, and repair engine mechanical, automatic and manual transmission, differential/driveline, steering/suspension/ride control, brake, electrical, HVAC, engine performance/emissions, light diesel, hybrid/EV, and under-car/exhaust systems.
• Assist in onboarding and training new technicians.
• Provide the Service Adviser with written diagnostic findings and repair plans, and assist with time and parts estimates.
• Test-drive vehicles after repairs to confirm quality work, and submit completed, accurate work orders.
• Achieve a production rate of at least 90 percent (billed vs. available hours).
• Take part in continuing education and support ongoing process improvement.
Requirements:
Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year technical school, plus 4 years of relevant experience. | Valid driver's license, proof of insurance, and an acceptable driving record. | ASE certified or working toward it (8 or more certifications within 1 year, including A1-A8). | Ability to read technical procedures, communicate clearly, and apply basic math concepts.
Physical Requirements:
Regular standing, walking, reaching, and use of hand tools, with occasional climbing or balancing. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs regularly, 50 lbs frequently, and 100 lbs occasionally. Exposure to noise, fumes, chemicals, and moving mechanical parts.
