Reports To: Service Manager

Summary:

As the primary liaison between clients and technicians, the Service Adviser directs and coordinates diagnosis, service, and repair work. Advisers combine strong communication skills with industry knowledge to build long-term client relationships and keep the shop running smoothly.

Responsibilities:

• Greet clients, review service requests and concerns, and assist with vehicle check-in.
• Prepare accurate estimates, work orders, and invoices in compliance with state law, prioritizing recommendations based on safety, client requests, previously declined services, and maintenance needs.
• Document technician findings, post parts invoices, and develop a complete service plan for each vehicle, including recommendations for future maintenance.
• Order quality parts at competitive prices, manage returns and core charges, and close repair orders through the parts tracking process.
• Contact clients to explain recommended services and necessary repairs.
• Dispatch work to the appropriate technician to ensure efficient, high-quality repairs.
• Monitor and meet performance benchmarks for parts margins, labor productivity, gross profit, and vehicle count.
• Open and close the shop as scheduled (7:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Monday through Thursday), arriving by 6:30 AM on assigned opening days.
• Ride along or test-drive vehicles with clients to verify concerns and support ongoing process improvement.

Requirements:

Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year technical school, plus 2 years of relevant experience. | Valid driver's license, proof of insurance, and an acceptable driving record. | ASE C1 Service Consultant certification, or ability to obtain it within 1 year. | Strong computer, phone, and typing skills (20 WPM minimum), with excellent communication and people skills.

Physical Requirements:

Regular standing, walking, reaching, and handling of tools and controls, with occasional climbing or balancing. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs regularly, 50 lbs frequently, and 100 lbs occasionally. Exposure to noise, fumes, chemicals, and moving mechanical parts.
